Brian Doughty is the Principal of The Outsourced CFO and a Chartered Accountant, holding an MBA from the Macquarie Graduate School of Management and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

As a finance leader with over 20 years’ experience serving on executive teams as the organisations’ CFO and leading large finance teams, Brian’s unique experience covers both large corporates and SME’s including Divisional CFO for 12 years with the Toll Group and CFO for the publicly listed JCurve Solutions.

Brian founded The Outsourced CFO so small to medium sized businesses could access the same level of commercial financial expertise normally reserved for larger businesses, at a fraction of the cost. Helping systematise, structure and scale businesses, Brian thrives on seeing businesses improve returns and drive growth.

Alastair Cranswick is a professional CFO who studied business at Macquarie university before going on to qualify as a Chartered Accountant and Certified Data Engineer. He is now based in Brisbane, but is quite happy to travel to see clients in other cities.

With over 20 years’ experience spanning CFO, data and consulting roles, Alastair has led high‑performing finance and analytics teams, advised boards and executives on strategy and risk, and delivered projects across multiple industry sectors in Australia and the UK.​ As a fractional CFO, Alastair believes reliable historical reports are essential, but that the most valuable insights are those that can be actioned to increase profits. Some of his recent work has featured in CFO magazine, and this includes projects related to A.I. and business performance improvement. His recent clients include global brands like Mars Wrigley and Tetratech. But he prefers working directly with the CEOs of Australian firms.

Earlier in his career, Alastair held senior roles including Chief Financial Officer at the Queensland Rural and Industry Development Authority (QRIDA), Interim CFO and CIO at Brisbane Youth Service, Strategy & Data Analyst and Business Partner at RPS, and Manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Brisbane and London.​

Interests :

Program benefits realisation involves evaluating how projects can better achieve their aims. Alastair is passionate about this topic and is involved in related professional communities including the Australian Evaluation Society, the Impact Evaluation Practitioner’s Network, and the panel of an RMIT study.
